CAPM announced air quality report as of 15 February 2021 (B.E. 2564).
In the North: mostly exceeding the standard.
In Bangkok: being in good criteria condition,
particulate matter accumulation trended to be decreased.

Ms. Pimpika Srisawat, Vice Spokeman of the Center for Air Pollution Mitigation (CAPM) announced air quality situation report as of 15 February 2021, 7.00 a.m. that there was still the continuous surveillance areas namely Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Lamphun, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Lopburi, Saraburi, Nong Khai, and Ubon Ratchathani.

The PM2.5 Monitoring results of each region were as follows:

  •  The North: The PM2.5 values were measured during 32-83 micrograms per cubic meter (ug/m3) which most values exceeded the standard.
  •  The Northeast: The PM2.5 values were measured during 26-59 micrograms per cubic meter.
  • The Central and the Western regions: The PM2.5 values were measured during 12-60 micrograms per cubic meter.
  • The Eastern region: The PM2.5 values were measured during 21-36 micrograms per cubic meter which overall image values were in excellent criteria condition.
  •  The South: The PM2.5 values were measured during 17-27 micrograms per cubic meter which overall image values were in excellent criteria condition as well.
  • Bangkok and its vicinity: The PM2.5 values were measured during 20-49 micrograms per cubic meter by monitoring stations of Pollution Control Department and
  • Bangkok Metropolitan Administrator which overall image values were in good criteria condition.

Ms. Pimpika said that the Meteorological Department forecasted the weather condition and its effect to particulate matter that during 15-17 February 2021, it was breezy to moderate windy across the North, the Northeast, the Central and the Eastern region, and Bangkok and its vicinity. The temperature was slightly increased. This made the mentioned areas had the trend of slightly to moderate particulate matter accumulation. During 18-21 February 2021, it was slightly increased windy and slightly rainy across the upper Thailand. Then the particulate matter accumulation trended to be decreased. For the South, it was continuous windy across the region and rainy in some areas. This made less particulate matter accumulation over this period.

The Center for Air Pollution Mitigation requested people for collaboration including turning off the vehicle engines while parking and always maintaining the engines to prevent black smoke, stopping all kinds of open burning for our good air quality, and taking care of health and wearing face masks and preventive equipment when going outside especially with people in risk group, pediatric patients, elderly people, and pregnant women.

People could choose to access the data of air quality monitoring result both 1-hour and 24-hour average data at www.air4thai.com and bangkokairquality.com websites or Air4Thai and Air BKK applications. They could also follow the information about air quality situation via “CAPM” Facebook Fanpage as well, Ms. Pimpika said.
