PCD enhanced the potential of 50 districts in Bangkok to control wastewater from small enterprises

Mr. Pinsak Suraswadi, Director General of Pollution Control Department (PCD), revealed that a large number of small enterprises in Thailand, most of which have been located within communities and do not have effluent quality control standards. They only have the general provisions of health hazardous enterprises requiring supervision of operations under the Public Health Act, B.E.2535 (1992).

Mr. Pinsak said that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) therefore, issued an announcement on standards controlling the discharge of wastewater from small enterprises that produce certain types of goods or services, B.E.2564 (2021) dated December 24th 2021, which has been effective from 27th February 2022. Small enterprises that produce goods or provide services specified in the announcement must treat wastewater generated from the main activities of the enterprises in accordance with the specified standards.In order to provide relevant agencies with knowledge, understanding and guideline to supervise enterprises to have good and appropriate wastewater management that do not cause impact on environment or complaints. PCD, therefore organized the workshop on enhancing the potential to comply with standards on controlling the discharge small enterprises in the Bangkok area for officers from all
50 Bangkok Metropolitan Area Offices, including officials from government agencies and others relevant operators in order to properly comply with the said announcement, Mr. Pinsak said.
