PCD measured particulate matter in Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station.

Mr. Pinsak Suraswadi, Director General of Pollution Control Department (PCD), revealed that due to the news of the particulate matter problem spreading in Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station (Bang Sue Grand Station), Mr. Pinsak assigned Mr. Phunsak Theramongkol, Director of Air Quality and Noise Management Division, and PCD officials to meet with Mr. Thakoon Intarachom, Director of Transportation Operations of Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station to 1) inspect the area, 2) install particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) detectors to monitor the problem for 7 days, and 3) measure the emission of particulate matter in the form of soot from the locomotive to assess the situation.

 

After preliminary inspecting the area, PCD advised Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station to speed up cleaning the area around the passenger terminal, station platforms, and railway tracks to reduce the spread of particulate matter. Moreover, PCD advised increasing daily cleaning frequency to build people’s confidence. PCD will monitor the particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) from the detector and inform the information to the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station and the public, Mr. Pinsak said.
