Dr. Pinsak Suraswadi, Director General of Pollution Control Department (PCD), revealed that according to the Enhancement and Conservation of National Environmental Quality Act B.E. 2535 (1992), the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment has appointed pollution control officers and officials to perform on pollution control and comply with this Act. PCD then appoints, pollution control officers to inspect emission and enforce law at point source of pollution, to control emission in accordance with the law, and also appoints government officials and civil servants to perform official duties to inspect, detect, and prohibit the use of vehicles under the Enhancement and Conservation of National Environmental Quality Act B.E. 2535 (1992) throughout the Kingdom and in specific areas.

Dr. Pinsak said that pollution control officers and officials under the Enhancement and Conservation of National Environmental Quality Act B.E. 2535 (1992) play a vital role in inspecting sources of pollution and controlling emission into environment. Then, it is necessary to understand the relevant aspects of pollution control, procedure methods, and details of inspecting point source of pollution, enforcing compliance with law, and ensuring correct, transparent, fair and verifiable.

Therefore, PCD has organized training course on “Enhancing the Efficiency of Pollution Control Officers and Officials”. This training provides knowledge on enhancing the virtues and ethical standards of government officials and state employees to improve performance, vehicle inspection and detection, and compliance with the Enhancement and Conservation of National Environmental Quality Act B.E. 2535 (1992), Including exchanging of operational guideline of pollution control officers and case study of laws enforcement of pollution control officers. Officials from both central and regional organization will participate in this training, Dr. Pinsak said.
