PCD and ThaiHealth invite high school, college, and university students to join the TikTok video contest in the GREEN GEN CHALLENGE for a chance to win over 90,000 baht in prizes.

Ms. Preeyaporn Suwanaged, Director General of the Pollution Control Department (PCD), revealed that PM2.5, food waste, and emerging environmental issues, such as the transmission of antibiotic-resistant bacteria into water sources, are significant challenges that impact both environmental quality and public health. There is an urgent need to raise awareness and promote understanding of these issues among the public. PCD, in collaboration with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), has launched a creative media contest to raise awareness about key environmental problems, including the campaign to stop open burning, reduce PM2.5, manage food waste, and combat antibiotic resistance. The contest provides an opportunity for young people to showcase their creativity through social media, which will be used as a platform to raise awareness and promote actions to prevent and address environmental pollution. This initiative is part of the GREEN GEN CHALLENGE: Creative Youth, New Media Power for a Sustainable Future.

Ms. Preeyaporn invites high school, college, and university students to participate in a video clip competition through the TikTok platform. The competition is divided into two categories: (1) high school students or vocational students at the vocational certificate level, and (2) college students, university students, or vocational students at the high vocational certificate level from various educational institutions. Participants can choose from three topics for their video clips: (1) haze, forest fires, and PM2.5, (2) food waste, and (3) sources and spread of antibiotic resistance. Participants are required to create creative content in the form of vertical video clips, no longer than 2 minutes, and post them on TikTok with the hashtags #GreenGenChallenge and #PollutionControlDepartment, making the post public. Winners in each of the three categories will receive cash prizes along with certificates. There will be a total of 18 prizes, with a combined value of 96,000 baht.

Students, college students, and university students interested in participating in the short video contest via TikTok can find more information about the competition topics on PCD’s website at www.pcd.go.th. You can register and submit your video link from now until December 8, 2024. For more details and submission guidelines, please follow us on TikTok, PCD’s Facebook page, or email: pcd.tiktok.contest@gmail.com. The winners will be announced in December 2024, Ms. Preeyaporn stated.
